Heat Flux and Pressure Measurements on HALIS Model in HEG-DLR High Enthalpy Shock Tunnel
1999
As part of the TRP "Re-entry Aerothermodynamics and Extrapolation to Flight" the flow on the HALIS model was investigated in the HEG facility. With the new conical nozzle the influences of high enthalph flow on pressure and heat flux measurements were investigated. Two different HEG operating conditions were used, with air as test gas. Computations on these conditions have been performed. Different coatings were applied to the model. The model was mounted at an angle of attack of alpha = 40 degree and tested with two body flap deflection angles of phi body flap = 0 degree and 15 degree. Difference in the pressure measurements are within accuracy. In the heat flux measurements differences are more pronounced at the high enthalpy condition and towards the upstream end of the model. Platinum coating tends to give highest values for the normalized heat fluxes.
