This annotated bibliography presents a selection of articles concerned with biological and clinical markers of health and disease with a focus on developing countries. Though not complete some useful background information are provided for a range of health problems of children and adults. Topics related to health and diseases are presented separately such as those of non-communicable diseases which include disability hearing loss low vision hypertension diabetes cholesterol and cervical cancer. Information about nutrition is also included with emphasis on anthropometry obesity and deficiencies on folate iron iodine and vitamin A. The next article discusses information on pregnancy-related tests. Substance abuse and intoxications are described as to the use of nicotine lead and other substances. The proceeding articles emphasize the studies of helminths HIV/AIDS sexually transmitted diseases and other respiratory tract infections. The other articles focus on topics about tropical diseases such as malaria dengue and others as well as vaccine-preventable diseases which include mumps measles rubella pertussis and poliomyelitis. Other infections are also discussed such as tuberculosis hepatitis C and encephalitis.
