COMMENTS ON: WIND PROHLE: ESTIMATION OF DISPLACEMENT HEIGHT AND AERODYNAMIC ROUGHNESS

Recently, Abtew et al. (1989) published a simple geometric technique to estimate the key parameters D and ZQ, the displacement height and roughness length, respectively, for describing the windspeed profile above a homogeneous surface. Some of their results deviate considerably from data found in the literature. The main reason for this is that their physical interpretation is incorrect. The present comment is an analysis of their method.
