Abstract Hydride or methyl abstraction from (η 5 -C 5 H 5 )(OC) 3 MH (M = Mo, W), (OC) 5 ReCH 3 with benzyliumhexafluoroantimonate gives the complexes [(η 5 -C 5 H 5 )(OC) 3 M(OCPhH)] + SbF 6 − and [(OC) 5 Re(OCPhMe)] + SbF 6 − , respectively. The acetaldehyde and benzaldehyde complexes [(η 5 -C 5 H 5 )(OC) 3 M(OCRH)] + BF 4 − (M = Mo, W; R = Me, Ph), [(OC) 5 Re(OCMeH)] + Bf 4 − can also be formed by treating (η 5 -C 5 H 5 )(OC) 3 MFBF 3 or (OC) 5 ReFBF 3 with aldehyde.
