2011
Through often interactive exchanges with the nursing professionals in Mainland China, and other countries, in addition to the advancements in information technology, the nurses in Taiwan have a broader vision about so-called ”globalization.” This study describes the nurse administrators' viewpoints and reflections on the ”globalization” in Taiwan. A group called ”core committee” was formed for the research purpose in nursing field. Thirty-four committee members are the leaders or senior nursing personnel of eight main hospitals in Taiwan. The interview guide was drafted by a research team and was reviewed by the committee members. The five focused themes of globalization were being open-minded, going beyond geographical areas, coordinating reciprocal benefit, communicating harmoniously, and shaping a cultural environment. Nursing administrators think that the Taiwanese government and the nursing professionals should expand nursing to the globalized level in Taiwan, establishing the globalization of nursing-related policies and procedures through proactively planned strategies and leading nursing professionals toward the goal of the globalization of nursing effectively and efficiently.
