Accounting on micros

Abstract Microcomputers have brought up-to-date information and computing power to the desk of the accountant. The first useful tool was VisiCalc, a spreadsheet. Then followed more sophisticated financial modelling software, such as Lotus 1-2-3. Micro/mainframe links allow accountants to access data in the corporate accounting systems. Reports predict greater use of computers by accountants, using, for example, experts systems and electronic mail.
