Supervision of Reheating Furnaces

1995
Abstract The objective of this work was to implement a supervision of four reheating furnaces with alarm monitoring, historical and statistical information analysis. The control algorithms will be improved by the proper acquisition of the most important variables and automation of the common procedures. New data is acquired to better the technological tracking of products. The system is based on a 3 PC network working on a real time multitasking microkernel operating system. It will be interfaced to the acquisition units by means of a specially developed electronic equipment. A compact PLC will also be used to obtain the missing data (alarms) and to improve the quality of the main control variables. The structure includes the attachment to the local area network and to the plant tracking system through an emulated terminal. The information quality will be increased, therefore allowing a deep analysis of the main variables of the furnaces in order to improve the control model in use.
