Component (200), comprising: a substrate (202) based on silicon; and a coating (220) to braze that is on the substrate (202) disposed on a silicon base, said coating (220) comprises braze-based: a brazed layer (204) having an intermetallic compound, wherein said brazed layer (204) provides a barrier against the diffusion of oxygen therethrough.
