The invention relates to a steering device for a steerable wheel of a rolling machine comprising: - a yoke (20), - a mounting assembly of the steering wheel, comprising an end piece intended to be fixed to the steering wheel, and an intermediate member connecting, with respect to which the end piece is rotatably mounted about a first axis, - a support (12) pivotally mounted about a second axis (23) of rotation relative in the stirrup (20) at an angle (ANG) of the steering wheel, the second axis (23) being distinct and non-parallel to the first axis, - a sensor (30) steering angle, one of the support (12) and the yoke (20) being fixed to the intermediate member and connecting the other of the support (12) and the yoke (20) being intended to be fixed to a fixed part of the machine rolling. The invention is characterized in that the sensor (30) of steering angle is a non-contact sensor between the bracket (20) and the support (12).
