High-Resolution Study of the 2ν5Hybrid Band of the CHD3Molecule

1996
Abstract The high-resolution infrared spectrum of CHD 3 has been measured on a Fourier transform spectrometer and analyzed in the region of the 2ν 5 hybrid absorption band, 2450–2810 cm −1 . Anomalously small A 1 –A 2 splittings of energy levels ( J , K = 1, A 1,2 ) and anomalously large A 1 –A 2 splittings of energy levels ( J , K = 2, A 1,2 ) in the E -type subband were observed. Energy levels were also observed for J ≥ 16 splittings of ( J , K = 4, A 1,2 ). These and other effects were described by strong Coriolis interactions between A 1 - and E -type vibrational subbands. A corresponding Hamiltonian model is derived. It reproduces the initial experimental data ( J max = 22, K max a = 22) with mean accuracy 2.7 × 10 −4 cm −1 , which is not far from experimental uncertainties.
