Aula-Taller inclusiva de jardinería

2019
In recent years, our society has advanced in citizen awareness and the search for solutions for the integration of people with physical disabilities. However, the way to go in terms of intellectual or mental disability is still long. The university, as an important part of society cannot ignore the need to be involved in training its students not only from a curricular point of view, but also in providing values and skills that facilitate the coexistence of this type of people. In this sense, the presented project aims to train students of the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (UPM) in transversal and social skills to have to carry out the establishment of a vertical garden with young people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), in collaboration with the Association of people with autism ALEPH-TEA. The experience has been highly valued by the students, both in terms of the curricular training received, as well as in social and human values, and in the development of transversal competences. This project opens to continue organizing activities aimed at strengthening and improving the integration of people with ASD and/or intellectual disability in society.
