STRENGTH AND STABILITY ASSESSMENT OF UNDERGROUND COMPOSITE TANKS

2008
SUMMARY The tanks are important environmental object. The strength and reliability of them are necessary for the ensuring the satisfaction of Environment Protection requirements and the escape accidents harmful for nature. The aim of this research is to estimate the loading and boundary conditions for underground tanks, evaluate the dependences of them according to the variation of the depth and create the methodology for estimation of loading and boundary conditions using the numerical models. In this study the thickness of tanks is optimizing, the influence of stiffening ribs to the strength and stability of construction is evaluating and the rational spacing between the stiffeners is setting. The results of this research could be used for finite element modelling of underground tanks with various geometrical shapes and dimensions, also for strength assessment and for estimation of racional geometrical parameters.
