An Economically Viable Route to Cis/Trans-(±)-2, 2-dimethyl-3-(2′,2′-dichlorovinyl)Cyclopropane Carboxylic Acid Esters

Abstract A short and economically vialble synthesis of 5-(2′,2′-dichloroethenyl) dihydro-4,4-dimethyl-2 (3H)-furanone, 3, an important intermediate for the preparation of cis/trans-(±)-1, from isophorone, 2, is described.
