2P-119 : Eco-friendly innovative nanocellulose extracted from marine biomass for porous nano-carbon structures as an energy related material

2020
Recently, nanocellulose accompanied by high strength and thermal stability has rapidly emerged as a popular new material. Most of the nanocellulose is extracted from wood system, but it contains a large amount of lignin. Because of this, a lot of time and chemicals are wasted in removing lignin and breaking it down into small pieces process. Marine biomass has little amount of lignin. So that if biomass is returned to the marine, not only solves these problems, but also brings additional advantages. For example, there is no need for arable land and the growing time is much shorter. Porous carbon is and essential structure in supercapacitors, and when nanocellulose is applied, it shows improved performance. Our study has produced porous carbon using nanocellulose and it is an eco-friendly, mass-produced material that can alternative existing supercapacitor materials.
