Background:Pneumothorax is a global disease. Management options include conservative
and interventional options either immediate as needle aspiration, small catheter or chest tube and invasive
surgical treatment via open surgery or VATS.
The missing arc!
There is general agreement in superiority of VATS over thoracotomy in surgery for spontaneous
pneumothorax. Surgery of pneumothorax still have different points which varying in different guidelines
available or not listed at all. There is no consensus about different VATS options in guidelines. In this
review we try to analyze new evidence and practice emerging since the last guidelines for managing
pneumothorax
Conclusion:With advancement in VATS since last guidelines make new one is a need.
