A look-ahead micro-segment smoothing algorithm based on improved S-curve acceleration and deceleration

2019
Acceleration and deceleration (ACC/DEC) control, one of the key technologies of CNC system, has an important impact on system performance. Smoothing ACC/DEC control, which ensures the smooth movement of NC machine tools and has a shorter transition time to satisfy higher efficiency, is a key technique. Micro-segment machining has attracted more and more attention, due to its high machining precision and simple interpolation algorithm. So far much work has been conducted to improve the ACC/DEC control flexibility and micro-segment machining precision, respectively, while with little research on taking advantage of both. In order to solve this problem, an improved S-curve ACC/DEC control method is proposed, which can help improve the efficiency during micro-segment machining process. Meanwhile, a look-ahead arc transition algorithm is proposed to improve machining smoothness. Finally, the proposed algorithm is performed in a 4-axis NC glass-cutting machine. The flexibility and efficiency of the system are improved and the result proves the practicability of the proposed algorithm.
