Hand hygiene compliance of medical staff in general hospital: current status investigation.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the hand hygiene compliance(HHC) of medical staff in general hospital,in order to provide bases for the improvement of hand hygiene.METHODS The hand hygiene status of medical staff was observed single-blindly by using a uniform questionnaire.RESULTS The total HHC rate was 27.47%,which varied with different departments,posts and contacting types.The HHC rate of the medical staff in Department of pediatrics(60.20%) was the highest.The nurse′s HHC(32.14%) was the highest.The HHC after contacting patient(36.56%) was significantly higher than that before contacting patient(22.44%)(P0.01).CONCLUSION The HHC of medical staff is low.The administraters of hospital should take intervention measures aiming at the impact factors to improve the hand hygiene awareness of the medical staff.
