Eyes on the Go: Using Eye Tracking to Understand How Mobile Users Consume Online Content

This experience report discusses how eye tracking can be used as an effective research tool to uncover representative eye movement behaviors while users consume and interact with mobile content. It also addresses how environmental factors (e.g. distractions, disruptions, etc.) affect mobile content viewing behavior. Examples are used to demonstrate how eye tracking can be a useful tool with in lab and in-the-field research methods. Practical advice is provided on how to conduct user research on mobile devices using eye tracking technology, as well as the challenges and limitations of this type of research.
