Anwendung eines mobilen Laserfluoreszenzspektrometers zur kontinuierlichen Bestimmung gelöster organischer Verbindungen im Uferfiltrat

2006
A laserfluorimeter which was developed at the Laser-Laboratorium Gottingen was used to determine the amount of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in different raw waters of a water catchment area. The aim was to perform a better control of ozone doses in the water plant. After calibration the variation of DOC in the raw water was monitored continuously. The results were: • Laser induced fluorescence (LIF) is a highly sensitive method to measure humic substances in raw water. It is about three to ten times more sensitive than the classical DOC determination. • The waters under investigation showed a linear correlation between normalized intensity of fluorescence and the amount of DOC. • Manganese that was present in two of the raw waters showed no fluorescence quenching effects like other heavy metals.
