Bonding Fe(hafc)2TDMA onto the surface of nickel metal organic frameworks for highly efficient oxygen evolution reaction

2020
Abstract Materials design at a molecular level holds the promise of finding highly active catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, Fe(hafc)2TDMA-decorated nickel metal organic frameworks (Fe/Ni-MOFs) were synthesized by acid-amine reaction at the surface of Ni-MOFs. Owing to the excellent interfaces between Fe(hafc)2TDMA and Ni-MOFs for accelerated water dissociation, the Fe/Ni-MOFs demonstrate high catalytic activity towards OER in 1.0 M KOH, delivering a current density of 10 mA cm−2 at an overpotential of 227 mV and a low Tafel slope of 47 mV dec−1. Moreover, Fe/Ni-MOFs possess good long-term working stability.
