Pore Morphology and Compressive Properties of Open-Celled Porous Cu Fabricated by Using NaCl as Pore Former

2011
Open-celled porous Cu had been fabricated by using NaCl particles as pore former through sintering-dissolution process. The pores and compressive properties were studied. It is shown that the pores of porous Cu had 3d transfixion open-celled network structure. The shape and size of the pores were similar to those of NaCl particulates. The flexural fracture surface exhibited typical ductile rupture characteristics. The compressive stress-strain curves could be distinctly divided into three stages including elasticity, plateau and densification. The layer-by-layer collapse was the predominant deformation mechanism during compression. And the material had better compressive energy abstrption property.
