Determination of Aspartame in Beverages by HPLC

2012
To study and develop method for determination of Aspartame in beverage by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) using column Nova-Pak C18, mobile phase is a mixture of 0.0125 M. KH2PO4 and acetonitrile (85:15) with UV detector at wavelength of 214 nanometre. The results of percentage recovery at the concentration of 20 - 100 µg/ml in carbonated beverage and powder beverage were 104.16 ± 2.28 and 78.64 ± 1.04 and relative standard deviation (RSD) were 2.19% and 1.32%, respectively. The relationship between the concentration of aspartame and peak area was linear in the range of 20-100 µg/ml with the correlation coefficient (r) of 0.9997. The results of accuracy and precision in testing carbonated beverage within the range of 20-100 µg/ml were good. Key words: aspartame, beverage, HPLC
