Extrapolation of creep strain and rupture data

1995
Complex methods of component analysis may be of little use in the early stages of design before dimensions or the materials have been chosen. Usually it is considered satisfactory if a stress level can be specified below which there is no danger of rupture or excess deformation occurring during the life of the component. The common criteria by which creep strength is judged are follows.
