Synthesis of perfluoroalkyl thioethers from aromatic thiocyanates by iron-catalysed decarboxylative perfluoroalkylation

Abstract Easily available aryl and heteroaryl thiocyanates were converted into the corresponding perfluoroalkyl thioethers via decarboxylation of potassium perfluoroalkylcarboxylates, catalysed by the inexpensive and environmentally benign iron(III) chloride.
