Vector sound field calculation for range-dependent ocean environments

2020
In underwater acoustic applications, the receiver array is usually fixed at a certain location, and sources emit signals at different distances. In order to acquire fast prediction of the sound field in theoretical study, the source and the receiver are interchanged according to the reciprocity of the sound field in the ocean. However, the vertical particle velocity cannot be exactly acquired by interchanging the source and the receiver directly in calculation. In this paper, the influences of the interchange of the source and the receiver on the calculation of the vector sound field are studied. And a method of calculating vector sound field based on the interchange of the source and the receiver is proposed. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed method can exactly predict the vector sound field. The proposed method can reduce the computational cost in the prediction of the vector sound field in a range-dependent ocean environment.
