2-Element Slot Antenna Array Based on Substrate Integrated Waveguide at Q-band

A 2-element slot antenna array based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) for MIMO communication systems is proposed in this paper. The antenna array contains two separated SIW slot antennas. To obtain high isolation which means low correlation and is important for MIMO systems, the two separated slot antennas are arranged in orthogonal polarization directions. For each SIW slot antenna, there exist two radiating slots whose distance is 1.5λ g (λ g represent the waveguide wavelength in the SIW transmission line). Proposed 2-element antenna array is fabricated and measured to verify the validity at Q-band, which shows good agreement between testing results and simulations.
