Nutritive Evaluation of Hybrid Jowar CSH-1 in Broiler Diet

Commercial, day-old broiler chicks (130), divided into 8 groups were fed on diets In which maize was replaced at 0,50,75 and 100% by CSH-1 variety of hybrid Jowar, with or without methionine supplementation. Effect of level of replacement or methionine supplementation on the weekly gain in weight, feed efficiency and carcass quality of broilers was non-significant. However, the feed intake on 100 % level of replacement was maximum and was significantly (P<0.01) more than all other levels. It was concluded that CSH-1 variety of hybrid jowar can safely replace 100% of maize In broiler diets and supplementation of such diets with methionine is not required.
