The Chemical Associations and Behaviour of Long-Lived Actinide Elements in Coastal Soils and Sediments

This postgraduate research programme concentrates on improving the understanding of the chemical associations and behaviour, in soils and sediments, of radionuclides discharged to the environment from industrial sources (eg from BNFL, Sellafield) and of their naturally occurring analogues. To a large extent, the chemical and physical forms of radionuclides in the environment control their behaviour.
