Design and Analysis of Superconducting Current-Limiting Switch in Ship MVDC System

The fault current limiting and breaking of the ship's direct current (DC) side is the key link of its fault protection. On the one hand, the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) has outstanding advantages compared with the ship's traditional current-limiting equipment. On the other hand, the SFCL can cooperate with a DC circuit breaker (DCCB) to achieve reliable cutoff of large fault currents. Therefore, in this paper, a superconducting current-limiting switch (SCLS) structure is proposed and its performance is analyzed in the ship MVDC power system.
