A compact 4-element LTE MIMOantenna design for mobile phone

The channel capacity of a MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) system is affected greatly by the mutual coupling (MC) between antenna elements in the case of the compact configuration. In this paper, a compact 4×4 multi-band MIMO antenna system with high isolation and low correlation for mobile handsets is presented. Each antenna element has the size of 30×12×7mm 3 . The average measured efficiency of the proposed antenna is 45% at low band (701–785 MHz) and 74% at high band (1710–2690 MHz). Both the simulated and measured isolations are less than −12 dB, and the envelope correlation coefficients basically satisfy the communication requirements.
