Study of the polycyclotrimerization of 1,6-hexamethylenediisocyanate and gel permeation chromatographic analysis of the products

1990
Abstract The cyclotrimerization of 1,6-hexamethylenediisocyanate has been investigated in the presence of bis(tributyl tin)oxide without a solvent in the 353–393 K range by microcalorimetry, IR spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography. The polycyclotrimerization of hexamethylenediisocyanate was found to be a first-order reaction. The activation parameters have been determined for this reaction. The polycyclotrimerization proceeds with the formation of isocyanurate rings; the monomer and trimer are present in the system up to the end of the reaction.
