Diagnóstico sobre competencias en investigación de estudiantes de Enfermería

2020
Research competencies include values and attitudes, cognitive skills and procedural skills. The teacher must be a facilitator of learning. Objective.  Analyze the main competences in quantitative research that, during six forums of scientific diffusion, students of Nursing developed in a higher education institution in Mexico. Methodology. Observational, cross sectional, prospective and analytical study. Information units; summaries integrated into the memories of research forums. Sample. 198 abstracts of research works included in the memories of forums XVII to XXII. Results. The competence to work in a team is well developed in the students, because in most cases the teams are made up of 3, 4 or 5 students. 47% of the works synthesized their study well. 61.1% of the works used specialized software. 68.7% with a quantitative approach, 31.3% qualitative, 89.9% without intervention, 40.4% sample sizes greater than 30 units of study, 89.4% non-probability sampling, 20.2% applied hypothesis testing, 15.7% correctly interpreted the “p” value and 88.9% was consistent objective, results and conclusions. Conclusions. Team work predominates, cognitive skills are deficient and procedural skills, related to the methodology and the use of specialized software, are barely sufficient. A tendency towards the use of simple designs was observed, without interventions, with scarce procedures that allow statistical inference, omission of hypothesis tests and incorrect interpretations of statistical concepts important for data analysis.
