Transnasal Endoscopic Marsupialization for a Huge Nasopalatine Duct Cyst With Nasal Involvement

2013
Nasopalatine duct cysts (NPDCs), also known as incisive canal cysts, are the most common nonodontogenic cyst of the jaw, with a reported prevalence of between 1% and 11.6% of all jaw cysts. A developmental cyst, the NPDC is believed to arise from epithelial remnants of the nasopalatine duct, the communication between the nasal cavity and anterior maxilla in the developing fetus. Precipitating factors in the development of an NPDC have been reported to be trauma, infection, and spontaneous occurrence.
