2011
Dyslipidemia are alterations in the metabolism of lipids that trigger changes in the concentrations of plasma lipoproteins, favoring the development of disease. Laboratory evaluation of lipid profile allows identification of the presence and prevalence of dyslipidemia in childhood and adolescence. The objective of this study was to compare the lipid profile of high school students from public and private schools in Anapolis - GO. We invited 200 students from 14 to 18 years of age, according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 110 (55%) of the students agreed to participate in the survey, 56 students from a public school and 54 students from a private school. Blood samples were collected by venipuncture and analysis of lipid profiles were performed in a private laboratory, using reagents from Labtest and automated equipment called Labmax by Progress ®. The data showed that 66.1% of public school students and 66.7% from private schools have at least one parameter altered lipid profile and levels of HDL cholesterol showed the most change. The knowledge of the lipid profile in children and adolescents is of fundamental importance for decisions to be made to improve the quality of life.
