An object of the present invention is to improve accuracy and speed in continuous manufacturing of liquid crystal display elements, and to drastically solve yield improvement. A cutting position of a defective sheet piece and a normal sheet piece is determined on a continuous web of an optical film based on a position of a defect detected by a preliminary inspection, and cutting position information regarding the cutting position is recorded as coded information. In continuous manufacturing of liquid crystal display elements, a piece of polarizing film formed in a size corresponding to the liquid crystal panel is bonded to the liquid crystal panel from the continuous web, and the length measurement data is calculated from the amount of continuous web feed. The coded information recorded above is read, and a score line is formed along the cutting position from the opposite side of the carrier film on the continuous web based on the coded information and length measurement data, and formed between the score lines. Determine whether the polarizing film sheet piece is a normal sheet piece, and remove the sheet piece judged to be a normal sheet piece from the carrier film. And feeding the laminating station, it is laminated normal sheet piece on the liquid crystal panel which is supplied to the lamination station, a continuous manufacturing method and apparatus for a liquid crystal display device.
