Development of the Multisolid Fluidized Bed oil shale retort. Final report
1984
This report presents the results of a project aimed at determining the feasibility of applying Multisolids Fluidized Bed technology to the retorting of eastern US oil shales. The MSFB oil shale retort appears to have considerable potential. Oil yields up to 162% of Fischer Assay and shale throughputs in excess of 3300 lb/hr-ft/sup 2/ were obtained while processing an eastern oil shale. An economic analysis indicated the cost of crude shale oil would be approximately $37.00/bbl compared to a cost of $50.00/bbl for a similar-sized Paraho plant (1983 dollars). 11 figures, 11 tables.
