Recent Achievements In Fission Dynamics Investigated At High Energies
2016
A recently built, new-generation experimental set-up, made it possible the first complete isotopic identification and momentum determination of the two fragments produced in fission reactions investigated in inverse kinematics. These experiments provide new insights into the static and dynamic properties of the fission process. In particular we have investigated ground-to-saddle transient effects and saddle-to-scission times using proton-induced fission reactions on $^{208}$Pb. The shorter fission times, due to the high excitation energies gained by the fissioning nuclei, provide better sensitivity of the fission clocks used to investigate the fission dynamics.
