Efficient generation of the first Stokes component of stimulated Raman scattering in a selective optical delay line

1986
An experimental study was made of conversion of pulsed radiation of the 0.53μ wavelength to the 0.63μ radiation by stimulated Raman scattering in methane enclosed in an optical delay line. Selective coating of the mirrors used in the delay line made it possible to reduce the losses due to the generation of the second and higher Stokes components. The quantum efficiency of conversion to the first Stokes component achieved in these experiments was ~0.52.
