Determination of Oxygen in High Purity Cadmium by Radio Frequency Glow Discharge Optical Emission Spectrometry

2008
A method was established for the determination of trace levels of oxygen in high purity cadmium by radio frequency glow discharge optical emission spectrometry (RF-GD-OES). The parameters optimized for the determination of oxygen in cadmium are nitrogen purge time, RF power, argon pressure, pre-integration time, and analysis duration. The method developed was evaluated for the determination of oxygen in Cd using an oxygen-nitrogen analyzer. The analysis results were satisfactory, which indicates that this method could fully satisfy the determination of trace gases (oxygen) in high purity Cd metal.
