Intoxikácia podofylínom u štvorročného dietata

2002
The authors present an account on a rare case of accidental podophyllum intoxication in a 4-year-old child. After oral ingestion of 20% tincture of Podophyllinum peltatum indicated for treatment of a wart the child developed gastrointestinal and neurological symptoms of intoxication. Despite adequate acute care the intoxication left permanent sequelae in the form of apallic syndrome with secondary epilepsy. This case draws attention to the potential danger of a widely available drug which is used in traditional Chinese herbal medicine and some homeopathic preparations.
