PÉRDIDAS OCASIONADAS POR INSECTOS EN CACAO ALMACENADO

2008
Losses caused by insects in stored cacao Losses caused by Lasioderma serricorne (F) and Araecerus fasciculatus (De G.), in stored cacao beans under controlled temperature (28 ± 2oC) and relative humidity (73%) was evaluated during three months. Dry matter consumption was established for each active biological stage and weight losses, damaged grains and dust production caused by each specie during development was determined. Larval and adults stages of L. serricorne were the highest consumers of cacao, with consumption values of 6.7 and 0.8 mg respectively. At 90 days storage, the specie L. serricorne was more dangerous caused weight losses of 20.3% 31.5% of damaged grains and 14.8% of dust production.
