Fluid Mechanics and Lock Design

1967
Navigation locks must have rapid and stable systems for filling and emptying. Key considerations in designing these systems are inertia, cavitation and losses within the conduit, and seiches, turbulence and overfilling within the lock. Analyses of these improve the engineer's understanding and help him design for ever-increasing head differentials.
