Desafíos del desarrollo en la provincia de Río Negro, Argentina

This article examines rural development in the North Andean region of Rio Negro province, Argentina. The authors analyze an environmental area suitable for extensive rural development that is not fully integrated as a productive area. Additionally, this article associates present difficulties with structural contradictions inherent in its regional incorporation to the national and provincial administrations. It then investigates the significant terms that characterized territorial policies, while illuminating how these terms viewed the inhabitants of the region and their activities. Finally, the article goes on to expose how the limits to the dynamics of integration are sustained by growth models that, based on notions of progress, development, and innovation, have overlooked local productive actors.
