Maladies parodontales chez le chien : facteurs de risque et approches thérapeutiques

2014
Periodontal diseases, natural diseases due to dental plaque accumulation on tooth surface, affect all dogs along their live to a different extent. Severity of the disease is related to various general or local risk factors. Major factors are the size of the dog and the lack of dental hygiene and of masticatory activity. After clinical periodontal examination and radiological assessment, periodontal treatment is performed, including supragingival scaling, subgingival debridement and dental polishing. Success of treatment depends on dental hygiene, which is mandatory for preventing uncontrolled plaque accumulation. Small size dogs must be particularly observed and and closely followed up for dental hygiene
