Electrochemical performance evaluation of carbon nitride synthesized at different temperatures as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries

2020
Carbon nitride has limited application in lithium-ion batteries (LIB) due to the deterioration of its crystallinity, difficulties in lithium-ion intercalation/de-intercalation, and poor capacity and cyclic stability. To overcome the above-mentioned issues, we have synthesized carbon nitride at different temperatures and evaluated its electrochemical performance as an anode material. The results demonstrated that the carbon nitride synthesized at 600 °C (C3N4—600 °C) delivers a remarkable specific capacity 2221 mAh g−1 at 0.1C-rate, with enhanced rate capability and cycling stability. The enhanced electrochemical performances may promote the utilization of carbon nitride in energy storage devices.
