A novel single-phase active-clamped PFC converter

1997
A novel single-phase active-clamped power factor correction converter is proposed, which is most suitable for high-power applications. Based on the constant frequency and the resonant active-clamped techniques, this circuit realizes the ZCS of the main switch and the auxiliary switch, and offers soft-switching conditions for the fast recovery diode. In the full range of loads, it can be operated in the constant frequency soft-switching mode. On the basis of the illustration of its operation principle, the detailed design approach is included in this paper. The PSPICE simulation results and the experimental results of a 3 kW PFC converter are presented.
