Method for removing suspended solids from wastewater

2013
Provided is a method for separating out and removing coarse suspended solids from wastewater. Said method, which is extremely useful industrially, yields treated water having good water quality and makes it possible to: reduce the amount of flocculant added; substantially simplify the equipment used; and reduce the cost of said equipment, the cost of maintaining and operating same, and the cost of recycling generated precipitates. This method is also free of problems stemming from inorganic flocculants. This method, which uses at least one type of organic flocculant to flocculate, precipitate out, and remove suspended solids from wastewater, creates a state in which said organic flocculant(s) is/are present in turbulent water that contains at least both coarse suspended solids and fine suspended solids and has a flow rate of at least 0.5 m/s, making it possible to flocculate and precipitate out both coarse suspended solids and fine suspended solids with the same treatment and remove same simultaneously.
