Internationale Klassifikation der Funktionsfähigkeit, Behinderung und Gesundheit: Version für Kinder und Jugendliche (ICF–CY)

2014
Developmental Disabilities and effects of chronic health conditions need to be assessed taking into account the individuals and their context. The active participation of the patient and their caregivers during this process allows to determine the aspects of functioning and disability as well as the needs and goals for intervention. This approach is grounded in the bio-psycho-social model of disability and operationalized by the WHO with the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). The use of the ICF allows a holistic view of the individual and expands the former deficit-oriented bio-medical model of health used in medicine. The ICF-CY offers a specific version to describe health and the context of children and youth.
