Strategi Pengeksplisitan dan Pengimplisitan Dalam Manifesto

2021
This study is a discourse analysis study combined with a pragmatic study to show the strategy of explicitising and implicitising in the writing of the manifesto by the Democratic Action Party (DAP) in the 12th General Election (GE-12). This qualitative study has two main focuses, which is to display the explicit and implicit strategy in the manifesto and then make a description of the explicit and implicit strategy through the framework of discourse analysis and Relevance Theory (TR). TR contains three important components, namely context, context effect and process cost. The explicatory strategy is directly related to the use of the conjunction ‘for’ used and the explicatory strategy is interpreted by the reader through non-linguistic information. Thus, the results of the study found that the explicatory and implicatory strategies are able to penetrate the cognition of the manifesto reader. The people managed to interpret the meaning of the policies, intentions, as well as the promises stated in the manifesto, thus moving the hearts of the people to oppose DAP in the GE-12. Surprisingly, for the first time in the country's history, DAP managed to overthrow the previous ruling party, namely Barisan Nasional (BN).
