Comparison of Dietary Pattern in Different Provinces of Iran

Dietary pattern analysis is one of these approaches that serves as a complementary approach to more traditional analysis. The purpose of the present study was to explore the relationship between dietary patterns, intake of macronutrients and micronutrients and comparison of dietary pattern in different provinces of Iran.Study Participants were chosen from five major cities of Iran and 156 subjects, aged 20-69 years old, from both gender were recruited for the study. For validation study, dietary intake was assessed by a semi-quantitative FFQ, which consisted of 160 Iranian food items. Participants were asked to complete one FFQ. Five major dietary patterns were extracted by factor analysis: western dietary pattern, traditional dietary pattern, healthy dietary pattern, high-sodium dietary pattern, and high- protein dietary pattern.Five major dietary patterns were identified by factor analysis: western dietary pattern, traditional dietary pattern, healthy dietary pattern, high-sodium dietary pattern, and high-protein dietary pattern. The highest correlation in western dietary pattern was for condiments (0.966), traditional dietary pattern had the highest correlation with all kinds of omelets (0.853), the highest correlation with yellow vegetables was found in healthy dietary pattern (0.742), the highest correlation in high-sodium dietary pattern was for pickles (0.868), high-protein dietary pattern had the highest correlation with poultry (0.868).
